Overview

Besao Multipurpose Cooperative (BMPC) is a long-standing, community-driven institution serving the municipality of Besao since 1969. While the cooperative had an existing website, it primarily functioned as an information board—lacking structure, clarity, and a clear path for member engagement.

This project focused on transforming the website into a modern, strategic platform—one that not only presents information but actively supports member growth, trust-building, and service accessibility.

The Challenge

The old website presented several limitations:

  • Unclear positioning — visitors were not immediately informed what the cooperative does or who it serves
  • Disorganized structure — content was scattered, making navigation difficult
  • Weak engagement — services were listed but not explained in terms of value
  • Limited conversion — no clear journey for prospective members
  • Outdated design — visual presentation did not reflect the cooperative’s scale and credibility
  • Legacy Joomla system — limited flexibility and updates
  • Difficulty in managing and scaling content

Overall, the site functioned more as a digital bulletin board rather than a platform for growth.

 

The Approach

The redesign was guided by a clear objective: Transform the website into a member-focused, trust-driven platform that communicates value and encourages action.

Key strategic shifts included:

1. Clear Positioning

A strong, immediate message was introduced: “Growing Communities Through Shared Purpose Since 1969”

This establishes:

  • Identity (cooperative)
  • Purpose (community growth)
  • Credibility (since 1969)

 

2. Structured User Journey

The new site follows a deliberate flow:

  • Value proposition
  • Trust indicators (metrics and legacy)
  • About (institutional credibility)
  • Services (value delivery)
  • Updates (activity and transparency)

This transforms the experience from: “Find information” to “Understand, trust, and act”

3. Service Clarity and Value Framing

Instead of listing services, the new site organizes them into clear categories:

  • Design decisions prioritized clarity and accessibility, especially for a diverse member base.

 

7. Platform Migration & Modernization

As part of the redevelopment process, the website was migrated from an outdated Joomla-based system into a modern WordPress framework. This transition was essential to improve usability, scalability, and long-term maintainability.

The new platform enables:

  • Easier content management for cooperative staff
  • Improved performance and mobile responsiveness
  • Greater flexibility for future updates and feature expansion

This shift ensures that the website is not only visually modern, but also sustainable and adaptable as the cooperative continues to grow.

Project Status

This project is currently in its final stages and awaiting official deployment. The website has been fully designed and developed, with content structure, user flow, and core pages in place. Final refinements—including content updates, optimization, and stakeholder review—are ongoing to ensure a smooth public launch.
